COURSES ON SEA CUCUMBER AQUACULTURE IN LANZAROTE (CANARY ISLANDS)

During this summer (July & September), WANGUMAQUA SLU organized two international courses on Sea Cucumber Aquaculture in Lanzarote (Canary islands, Spain), including theoretical lessons and practical training. Both courses were a success!!!

We received people form different countries including Spain, France, Brunei, Türkiye, UK, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Algeria and Tunisia. Attenders belong to different sectors linked with the aquaculture industry including teachers, researchers, public workers, owners of aquaculture companies, biologists, students, etc. 

Theoretical lessons were taught during the morning, and training on field (sea cucumber sampling, identification of target species, estimating densities, selection of breeders, animal transporting), and into the hatchery and lab (spawning induction, handling of eggs and larvae, biopsy, breeders’ feeding, maintenance of tanks, filters, and so on) was carried out during the afternoon and evening.

Even, we had time to visit some of the most beautiful places in Lanzarote!
