17th International Echinoderm Conference (Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Spain, July 15-19, 2024)

Central Theme: “Echinoderm Studies During Uncertain Times”

The central theme of this congress is “Echinoderm studies during uncertain times”. With this topic, we want to acknowledge the need for positioning our work in the unprecedented period we are living. We are facing multiple crises at the same time related to biodiversity loss, climate change, natural resource scarcity, and human health.

Planned Plenary Sessions

Plenaries have been planned according to the central theme of the conference. The talks will cover the genomic adaptation of echinoderms under climate change scenarios, sustainable aquaculture to provide food to developing countries and to avoid overfishing of natural stocks, the extraction of echinoderm derivative products for human health, among other interesting questions.

Featured Speakers

Dr. Mercedes Wanguemert will be there talking about sea cucumber aquaculture as a Plenary Speaker! You can check the abstract of her talk and a short video about her work here.
